How Do I Cope With The Feeling That I Should Have Never Started My Own Business, Gone For A Steady Job, And Saved My Money In The Long Run?
There’s no entrepreneur who doesn’t regret it at least once a day. And, there’s no entrepreneur who doesn’t change his mind the same day.
Business owners are bouncing back and forth between these two extremes: regret and excitement.
How can I be so sure? Well, I used to write for so many business owners that I lost count. So many of them have been down this road themselves and feel exactly the same way.
Entrepreneurship isn’t all black and white. The truth is always somewhere in the middle.
One day, you are regretting it from the bottom of your heart, the next day you love it and you believe that you will be a business owner for the rest of your days. This is how it works.
If you’re asking yourself this question then this means you are probably caught in one of those moments when you had some tough time. But, this can quickly change. I wouldn’t be surprised if you ask a completely different question a few days from now: Do you absolutely enjoy being a business owner?
The business weather quickly changes. There are a lot of sunny and rainy days waiting for you.
So, what can you do about it?
There are no rules. There are no guarantees. There’s absolutely nothing you can do about it. So, relax and enjoy your business ride as long as it lasts because it’s going to last forever. Or, as long as you want it to last.
Have you seen the movie “Troy?” Eric Bana as Hector nails it when he says: “Sometimes the gods bless you in the morning and curse you in the afternoon.” That one pretty much sums up how it feels to live and work as a business owner.
One moment you’re cursing the moment you’ve decided to become a business owner. The very next moment you’re having your victory dance and you can’t stop talking about how entrepreneurship is the best thing that has ever happened to you.
So, this question will never have a “stable” answer.
C’est la vie, mon business owner ami!
